Members of ASP export their products to more than 40 countries around the world. In 2017, the province as a whole, exported seafood products valued at over $900 million dollars, and a volume of over 86,000 tonnes.
The United States is the largest place of export for Newfoundland and Labrador seafood products, representing 47% of the total export value, with China as the next largest export market at 19%. Other key markets include Vietnam, Denmark, the UK and Japan.
Snow crab had an export value of over $400 million dollars in 2017, with shrimp at the second highest export value of $220 million, followed by groundfish at $60 million, and pelagics at $35 million.
